Perhaps this is the other part deux. Anyhow I went out and got a wide-mouth
vacuum gizmo for jars. Bought some 16oz wide-mouth Ball jars, these have a
straight side and seem to be fairly stout. Put 10oz of water into the jar and
froze it, no lid. The next day I put a lid on it and sealed it with the vacuum
gizmo. Left it in the freezer. Today, the next day, I thawed it, it was still
sealed after this. Broke the seal, emptied it and saw no apparent damage to
anything. I will add there is a 12oz "fill to here" marker on the jar. I can
see no reason not to fill to there if I wanted, the expansion wasn't near what
I was expecting, but there was room for maybe a floz.
