This is an easy one, and at last there is a question in this thread for
which there is a good answer.

A "fast" change is one that occurs too rapidly for lifeforms to adapt to.

If the ocean "quickly" gets a bit warmer and slightly deeper,
then coral reefs will die.

If human agriculture (or whatever) is disrupted by climate changes, then a
lot of humans will suffer because our society has no way of saying
"group X is having a hard time so we will take 50% of the wealth of
group Y and use it to allow X to develop another lifestyle". In
particular that is pretty well impossible if X and Y are in different
countries.

Well, at least you now have a qualitative answer - sorry that the
quantitative is a bit more elusive.
