Actually the splash screen is part of the msdos boot files installed
with windows98. Since there is no gui to start, you end with a C:\
prompt. If you have a good undelete program, and no one has done any
writing to the disk yet, you might be able to recover a good part of
windows. If you look on the bottom and there is a decal with the
windows password, you can reinstall windows with anyones' windows 98
CD.
You might go to the website:

Punch in your type/model or options part number and see where that
takes you.

LCDs are digital pixels rather than an analog beam in a CRT monitor.
The CRT monitor focuses the beam out to the edges on the different
resolutions, however on an LCD the resolution is the pixel count. So if
you have a 1024x768 pixel screen displaying 800x600 pixels, you will
have only 800 pixels across and 600 down working. With corresponding
black in the unused part of the display.

Most likely not.

So what are you waiting for? Save what's on the drive, and then try
installing ECS on it. We know you want to! ;-)
