And not just for excercise - for fun and interest. Those who have been to
Britain know the country is criss-crossed with centuries old walking
trails. I have spent many happy hours walking with my Aunts along coastal
cliffs, through river valleys, and across wide open pasture.

I think the nearest analog North America has is the growing network of
abandoned rail lines converted to bike trails.
