-> You're making me want to take another trip down to South Padre. I
Well, we're near a hundred miles inland from the Island, but Brownsburg
of course, is close. You really wouldn't want to miss our botannical
garden birdwatching anyway. (Orioles, Kiskadees, green-jays, and more
wild finches that you can shake a stick at.)
-> wonder what their diet consists of. Somebody ought to be studying
-> their adaptation to their new environment.
There is a local group dedicated to keeping track of the nest sites and
roosting grounds. Headed up by a local TV personality we get regular
information about how things are progressing.
His position is that since his ancestors reported local flocks of both
conures and Mexican redheads that they ARE a native bird and should be
given the protection afforded protected species. So far no joy from
local governments. Opponents insist that all these birds are ferile
releases, and/or escapees, and that they should be fair game for people
with "Cherry Pickers" to capture. Makes my blood boil! (I owned a
cherry picker for many years and if I'd caught any of MY employees
taking parrot chicks he'd have been fired before he hit the ground!)
-> The neighbors enjoyed their antics and squawks, luckily.
Mostly it's that way down here. MANY people feed them, and there's been
some success at attracting nesting by setting out sunflower seeds.
-> with it in her inimitable fashion. I can't believe yours actually
-> mimicked that blasted racket.
The Yellow Cheek mimicked EVERYTHING! (Except ME!)
 You are a true Amazon lover to endure
-> that.
Well, I'm NOT looking to buy another Yellow Cheek! I swear I truly
believe they're LOUDER ounce for ounce than a PAIR of YHA. (And I've
heard some LOUD Yellow Heads!)
