Sheesh, and to think that I thought for decades that it was so that it
would still be semi-hot when you got to the office/jobsite and were able to
drink it.

I haven't been inside a McDonalds in years for breakfast, but at one point
in my life there was a convenient one that I stopped in most every morning
for an Egg McMuffin and coffee, but I'd always get the counter person to
dump ice in the bottom of the cup before filling it.

"Thees Peereboom"  wrote  as I
understood, the only reason for selling coffee that hot, was to avoid too
many free refills.
