Hello Rod! [recipe comparison deleted] RS> Yeah, it looks like the same thing with just the usual variation you see RS> between two different cook books idea of the best way to produce a RS> particular end result. Definitely recipes for the same dessert. RS>> 50g 2 oz butter AW>> 1 tablespoon of butter. RS> Thats quite a bit less, say 25g ish RS>> 50g 2 oz flour AW>> 1 tablespoon of self raising flour. RS> Thats a hell of a lot less and seems much to low to me. Would certainly RS> explain the flopped result, not enough flour to form the sponge out of RS> which is mostly the flour. And it cant be that your recipe is for say 2 RS> people, the eggs and lemon match. Maybe tablespoons, like everything else in QLD, are larger than normal ;-) RS>> 225ml 8 fl oz milk AW>> 14 cups of milk. RS> A bit low, but I cant remember what happened between the old imperial RS> cup and the metric one. (BTW, mine is for 1 & 1/4 cups for anyone that's reading) I'll have to measure the exact quantities of ingredients used to make the QLD edition of this pudding. My mother may be unconsciously or absently adding extra of some things. AW> She looked around just in time to AW> see a jumper hit the water with an almighty splash. Turns out he was AW> a top student at a private school who just couldn't handle the exam AW> and family pressures anymore. Very sad case, a bit like the character AW> in the movie "Dead Poets Society". RS> Hadnt thought about harbour views quite like that before, 'damn, there RS> goes another' |-) My girlfriend has sharp eyes. She occasionally even notices me pedalling northwards on the bikeway of the coathanger. AW> He shouldn't have been jumping from the Western side of the bridge AW> anyway, being that it's a bikeway with no pedestrian access. RS> Spoken like a true bureaucrat |-) Ouch! Actually I've had an ongoing war with recalcitrant Harbour bridge bikeway users for about 7 years now. There's two simple signs at each end of the path for non-english tourists to understand, as well as warnings in english threatening a $500 fine for offenders. Still they do it. The only tourists that have an excuse are the blind ones and I can't see why they'd be doing something scenic like that anyway. Mainly it's the ones that walk three abreast that cause me the most heartache because when I see them ahead of me (back view), I feel the need to speed up and try and fit through the 15 centimetre gap they leave. This involves a gamble that one of them won't dodge at the last moment. There's a beautiful pedestrian/jogger walkway on the eastern side of the bridge BTW.
