Right now, the only outage I care about is my 84-year-old father's - it
went out Wednesday night and is still out, and he's getting really cranky
about it.  My brother-in-law works for Duke Energy, and I called him and
asked him what good was he if he couldn't get Daddy's power back on.  He
and my sister just laughed.  And they can laugh about it - they're 90 miles
away.  I'm within easy reach and am getting an earful daily.

I don't know why he's so upset.  It's not cold enough for him to be worried
about frozen water pipes.  I've already cleaned out the refrigerator and am
feeding the cat.  He and my step-mother are staying with his 2 sisters
where there's heat, light, food, 2 sitting rooms, a sun porch, 3
televisions, 4 recliners, and all 3 women who positively dote on him and
wait on him hand-and-foot.  He could be shivering at home eating cold
Vienna Sausages out of a can, or, even worse, out here with me where I am
firmly in command of the remote control to my one television.
