I recently had to trash my old Epson because of mechanical problems.  I've
installed a new Canon printer.  I've used PRNDRV.EXE to remove the old
printer.

I can get the various applications to print to the printer without much
fuss (GDI graphics printing works without a hitch as far as my experience
goes).

However, I no long have the ability to "COPY FIL1.TXT LPT1:" type of
printing anymore.

From what I can tell, it does go to the default printer queue but its a
flash (and its gone) too fast to even see the name of the file created in
the spooler.

I've tried to disable the spooler.   But this didn't improve anything
other than the print queue no longer seems to flash.

Any tips on how I might go about getting this fixed would be greatly
appreciated.
