I think a lot of the problems have come from umpires that are showing up the
players and the fact that they won't admit that they're wrong. When NFL refs
huddle up to get the right call, they do more for their credibility and good
will than umpires that refuse to do so with decisions about close plays (Even
when they know that they're wrong and they made the wrong call anticipating a
different result).
