-=>Can you believe what Ivy Iverson said to Susan Cook? Who woulda thunk?
II> Thanks. You are the second person who has told me this. Glad you
II> enjoyed it, and I hope the recipients enjoyed it as well.
II> Progress report: The kittens at 1 1/2 weeks old are growing like
II> little weeds! Their mother got it into her head today to move them
II> from the safety of the birthing box up on my bed. By the time I
II> discover it, (all 4 times so far), one has fallen down between the bed
II> and the floor. That wouldn't be too bad, but it's so tight down there
II> that I don't think that she is small enough to get in there to get it.
II> I round up the kittens and put them back in the birthing box and scold
II> her... In an attempt to get her to keep them in the box, I put the
II> little "house" that she kept going to when she was in labor into the
II> birthing box. She has them in there with her, and seems to be content.
II> I hope that convinces her to keep them there. Of course when they get
II> to jumping around, (another couple of weeks), I will have to take it
II> out or they will use it to get out, and there is enough danger here for
II> really little kittens, including getting on my bed when I'm sleeping,
II> that I want to keep them in the box as long as possible. I figure by
II> the time they can jump up two feet to get out of a box, they are about
II> ready to be turned loose upon the place... Heaven help us! :->
Have you put an old sweater or t-shirt of yours in the box? It may be
a long shot, but maybe your cat wants to have her babies up there to
be closer to you, but if she has something that smells of you in her
bed she will be more content. It's worth a shot.
I just finished fostering a kitten for the SPCA. It was 4 weeks when I took
it home and 7 1/2 weeks when I took it back. I named her Squeak because
she squeaked instead of meowed, but her nickname was Piglet because she
ate and ate and ate. She almost tripled her size before I took her back
to be adopted. I am happy to say she went to a good home yesterday after
2 days of being at our adoption center in Petcetera.
... If cats had wings there would be no sea gulls crapping on the beach.
