Broad River Electric came through summer before last cutting trees back
from and generally clearing out the r-o-w around here.  They spent nearly a
week in a bucket truck on my property alone trimming the limbs back on the
oak and hickory trees on either side of the r-o-w.  When they stopped by to
let me know they would be coming through with the huge bush hog to cut down
the scrubby pines that had grown up under the line that comes up towards
the house, they "asked" me if it would be OK to cut 15-20' on
either side of the line.  I told them they could cut a 100' swath all the
way to the road if it meant I'd have heat and light all winter.  They just
laughed and said they thought the 15-20' would be enough, but they did go
ahead and cut it a little wider.

Some of the people up the road from me were stupid enough to actually plant
a row of trees directly under the power line along the road in front of
their house.  They were hysterical over the trimming their trees got.
