Oh yes, the annual science project, I remember it several time well...
-> Once each summer I take the cage apart and move it outside to spary
-> it down with a mild chlorine bleach solution.  I then let the parts
-> air/sun dry.
As my aviary is outside, the floor air/sun dries each time I treat it.
