We may be getting a bit off topic here, but here goes. It has been reported
that Millions do not have any health insurance. I can't substantiate the
numbers because I haven't seen any hard data, but nevertheless, I think it
is true that a considerable portion of the US population does not have any
health insurance and must rely on Maid and emergency room care. In
addition, the present system is being governed by bean counters and lawyers
- not the medical profession. Witness the proposition being sponsored by
the California Nurses to put on the ballot a proposition changing the modus
operandi of HMO's. IMO this is a disgrace for the richest nation in the
world because we are the most undertaxed of the industrialized countries.
Germany's top tax rate is 57% due to the cost of incorporating former East
Germany. Out top tax rate is 38%. I believe our top rate should be
increased to pay for better health care coverage for everyone, excluding no
one.
