Tom:
SB> Hi, everyone!
SB> Real life has been MOST intrusive lately, cutting Fido-netting time
SB> right out. Things are mostly settled down now, so I'm back.
TE> Welcome back, we've wondered where you were.
Nice to know I was missed.
SB> BTW, I just found out recently that, while a Ford Tempo DOES have a
SB> quite generously sized trunk relative to the size of the car, the
SB> trunk is NOT big enough to park a Saturn in it, especially at 40+ mph.
TE> Hope nobody was hurt. However, I can't figure out why were you
TE> trying to park in the trunk of a Tempo? Do you save on parking
TE> fees that way?
Actually, Bob was driving at the time. :-)
No serious injuries, but the Tempo Bob and I had bought in January got
totaled. We were at a stoplight minding our own business and WHAMMO!
We're 50ft down the street with a quite interestingly redesigned car [it
wound up at least 13" shorter than Ford had intended]. The Saturn, being
driven by an elderly woman who apparently did not see the stoplight or a
white car with its brake lights on [clear, sunny day, ca. 3pm], got $5k
of damage.
Her insurance company has been quite anxious to get this resolved
satisfactorily. The accident was on Feb. 28. On March 5, we got a check
for the purchase price of the totaled car, which allowed us to buy
another 1994 Tempo [we both really like that model]. We've also already
been reimbursed for five days of car rental, and expect no problems over
replacement of damaged property or Bob's lost wages.
