RG> I just purchased a SupraExpress 336e to replace my ancient 14.4

RG> speaker turned off permanently. This modem only holds its active

RG> so do all my settings!
RG> My question is... Is there anyway, short of breaking the speaker that I
RG> can get the modem to turn off the speaker until such a time as I tell it
RG> to turn on? As near as I can tell this modem doesn't have vram and
RG> doesn't accept the AT command to write a new profile. Curious thought,
RG> why is that? seems like a throw back in design settings to the early
RG> (pre Hayes) 1200 baud modems...
You should be able to add the "M0" without the quotes to your
initialization string to turn the sound off.
