That's certainly true with me. Way back when my cholesterol was running in the
low 300 range, had a heart attack. Started eating the "Heart Healthy" diet
(thought I was going to grow feathers). Got it down to the high 200's.
Started drugs*, fiddled around with them for several years, still watching my
diet. I finally found one that works for me, and now it's down in the 130-140
range, came in at 120 once without even studying for the blood test. I used to
tell people that I could eat twigs and gravel and have a cholesterol problem.
Now I eat what I want and pay no attention to diet.
Got the cholesterol making gene from both sides of the family: My fathers side
mostly died from heart attacks, my mothers side mostly from strokes.
*Better living through chemicals.
