Quoting Ian Macaulay to Rick Lembree

IM> I wasn't trying to take a shot, I just figured he was getting a bad rap
IM> for trying something new. Everybody was giving him the raz about wanting
IM> to be a moderator and I believed he was sincrerly trying to be helpful.
I agree to an extent. I don't think I gave him a hard time 'til he got
defensive. I was just speaking my thoughts, that I believed it was redundant
and that both the existing echos had no problems handling FS/W traffic. Now
if we were having problems, then I could see starting a new echo.
IM> Nevermind the topic is closed now.
Ayep.
RL> You didn't look hard... Whirlybirds has been on the backbone for
RL> a long time. Yep, your loss.
IM> Yeh I looked when you first cut over and a few times after when you
Cut over? Not sure what you mean. WHIRLYBIRDS isn't a replacement for any
echo and I never left the RC echos (or AVIATION or FLYING, for that matter
(both of which tend to be fixed wing discussion for the most part)). It
covers _all_ aspects of helicopters (or anything that hovers), from the ones
you ride in, to the ones you fly RC. Some people got the wrong idea that it
was an _RC_ heli echo. It is not.
IM> popped back to advertise. Never was on the list over here (that I saw).
Your FIDONET.NA must have been an old one.
IM> I will try again this weekend because I still have my unflown (by me)
IM> Hyrobi hanging from the rafters.
Remember, WHIRLYBIRDS _isn't_ just RC helis...
IM> I guess the point was that if the start was attempted and there wasn't a
IM> call for it then it would die down by itself. Fido would do the kill.
Not always. Some echoes get quiet for a few days, then get a few messages,
then a lively discussion. It's sometimes a viscious circle. ;) This echo as
well as WHIRLYBIRDS is no exception.
