123c59840bdd tech Hello Tom - CA>>> That is after you buy. You some FREE time, I don't CA>>> specificly recall how much but it was enough for you to CA>>> pack the hard drive, with the Purchase of the Computer. CA>>> After that you have to pay per year fro a subscription. CA>> Last time I checked the cost to gain access to their CA>> 'other' software was $99 per year. TW> I was only adressing hte FACT that they give you plenty of TW> time, 6 to 12 months(I don't recall) of "FREE time" to load TW> up your Hard Drive. Yes, something like that. TW> It is still unclear to me IF the standard FREE Linux TW> applications will run under Linspire though. I've read mention of that and don't recall it clearly enough to say for certain. I think there are some differences that are obstacles to using other GPL'd software. TW> By the way here are two "Opinions" about linux. One from a TW> Full Linux GEEK prospective and the other from a Pure TW> Novice Lunix lookie Loo prospective. I found nothing TW> unexpected in either opinion and it seems to Prove that TW> Robertson is on the Right track and is on target for TW> breaking Linux into the mainstream. Something I have been TW> thinking was Needed for for many years. TW> ***** I found Linspire(Lindows) 4.5 to be a mixed bag fro TW> experienced users. It installs easily BUT beyond the basic TW> install it takes a lot of wrok to get everything else TW> installed and configured the way "I WANTED IT". TW> ****** Linspire(Lindows) has made soem teriffic progress TW> since it's debut. It stands asac a good example of what's TW> really possable for Linux on the decktop. We recimmend it TW> for users or businesses that want an EASY-TO-USE desktop OS TW> that is comfrotable for complete Nubies to Linux. The comparison of Linux to Windows is, in my opinion, difficult because users of either OS that have never actually gotten everything installed to work for them as they want it to work will not readily admit to that fact. Networking is just one, there are others. Some Linux installs do not play MP3s, for instance, but few mention that up front. What Windows will do when first installed is what many of us are accustom to doing with a computer. This may or may not be the best use of a computer but it's what we do (access websites, play music, edit graphics/video, some IM'g, etc.). Many Linux installs either will not do those things as installed or can only do those things to a limited degree when compared to Windows as installed. Once you being adding/tweaking/etc. the comparison falls to the person who is best suited to do that tweaking/adding/etc. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
