Only in the sense of them expanding their market share to include a lot of
people that didn't want to be bothered with "all that tech
stuff".  The ones who do are still quite actively using dos,  and the
command line in linux,  and other things,  but are a significantly small
minority compared to the vast majority of point-and-click users,  which is
what they were aiming at.

I still think it's a pretty horrible "standard" in some respects.
