I don't know. I made an observation according to what I read. If you
don't want to tell us, that's fine. _had_ means to me you have done
something already. Sounds like a good laptop - have fun!

I just got my first laptop - a Thinkpad 770E. Without a manual I
finally figured out to turn it on.

First I see 097728 KB OK and IBM.

Then Thinkpad.

Then I see a Windows 98 splash screen.

Then I see (only) C:\>_

I'm thinking this is a bit odd, but what do I know?

On doing a DIR I get:

The seller made no statement whatsoever about an operating system, so I
wouldn't be at all surprised if there was none. But if that's the case,
why does the Windows 98 splash display?
