ummm... you have to telnet to the proper port for the service you are
telnetting to... for a POP3 server, you'd telnet to port 110... for a SMTP
server, you telnet to port 25...

make sure you have your list of valid POP3 commands available as you'll
need them to do the work of a POP3 client manually ;)

NOTE: this is not for the foolhardy or weak of faith O;)
