Progress.  format with the /L parameter worked, and I can actually do a
dir of the drive.

HOWEVER, trying to write anything to it:

[F:\]copy config.sys s:
SYS0019: The drive is currently write-protected.
        0 file(s) copied.

What drivers from the IBM IDE stuff do I need in config.sys?
