ahhhh... [dredging up ancient knowledge]... IRQ9 is "hardwired"
(physically) to IRQ2... because it is on the second PIC (programmable
interrupt controller)... if you were doing this with physical hardware and
installing it on IRQ9, the software might have to be told that it is on
IRQ2 if it doesn't allow settings above IRQ7...

not sure if that helps or not...
