In a message on Saturday 11-04-16 Roger Nelson said to Holger Granholm:
Howdy Roger,
RN> Simple enough to find out. Click Start > Settings > System > scroll
RN> down the left pane to About and click on it.
HG> When I read 'pane' I interpret it to window. What I got after
HG> clicking Settings >, was a splash covering most of the screen.
RN> Sorry. I should have put column there instead of 'pane'.
You don't have to be sorry. Windows itself doesn't seem to know, what to
present on the screen. After I had let the update loose on the laptop,
it showed a long column, with all kinds of settings, in a long column on
the left side of the screen.
Next time when I started it up and chose settings, it again was back to
the splash screen, with the icons for different choices.
HG> It showed the version to be: 1607, ie. the update. I checked again
HG> the contents of the Windows Upgrade Assistant, and found a couple
HG> of text files dated oct.11 2016, apparently telling the date of the
HG> upgrade.
RN> I didn't go that far, but I still wonder why that icon is on the
RN> desktop.
Me too!
RN> I have a FB account, but I didn't get out while the getting was
RN> good. I haven't logged into it in a few years -- probably 4. I was
RN> talked into getting a FB account by a Russian concert pianist and
RN> her husband who now live in Baden-Baden, Germany.
I really don't have time for FB, but I opened the account mainly to be
able to look at the videos and pictures my GS send from the various
places his job takes him, and pictures that my relatives put up.
Have a good day,
Holger
