Jane Kelley On (08 Jan 97) was overheard to say to Bob Moylan
JK> The fact that you wrote this indicates to me that you have no
JK> formal education in addiction whatsoever and that you are
JK> completely unqualified to make any statements at all about the
JK> subject.
Your perception, in this at least, is correct. I do not have,
nor have I ever claimed to have, any training in addictions.
JK> I do have by law in this state the qualification to say what I did.
My qualifications to make any statements about addictions is not the
issue. The issue is your qualifications to come into this conference
and pontificate about a causal effect between alcoholism and ADD/ADHD
without offering a single shred of evidence to back up your claims;
to tell the participants here that medications that have been proven
by controlled study after controlled study to be effective in the
treatment of ADD/ADHD are dangerous and all the other poppycock you
spout; and to push herbs, diet and other witches brews as viable
alternatives to a physician controlled and monitored treatment plan.
You consistently attempt to muddy the waters with statements like
that above. I don't give a flying hoot what your qualifications are
in the field of addictions. You don't have any, I repeat, ANY,
credentials that give you any credibility to make pronouncements about
ADD/ADHD. When you are shown to be wrong you fall back on simplistic
and pitiful attempts to down play someone else's experience and
knowledge.
JK> And I have long ago stopped being at all "nice" where the lives of
JK> other people are constantly being placed at risk by those who don't
JK> have the first clue as to what is wrong with them and what to do
JK> about it.
I know you for what you are Jane. You are one of those all too
familiar individuals with a smattering of training in one area who
thinks that qualifies you to tell everyone else what to do about
anything else. You keep harping on the fact that you were trained as
a nurse some 40 odd years ago. I am not impressed. I deal with RN's
every working day and some of these are, to put it bluntly, not worth
the powder it would take to blow them to hell. I do not hesitate to
tell these people, who without exception, have not done a single
thing to update their credentials since they graduated from nursing
school they are wrong. It is nothing for me to refuse, and to require
my staff to refuse, to implement some ding bat nurse's "order" when I
and they know beyond any doubt it is wrong. Don't wave your nurses
license at me Jane as if it was the third tablet. You have shown in
here, over and over, that you don't know anything about ADD/ADHD.
You have admitted you don't know who the leading medical experts in
the field are. You just plain don't know, so I will say this to you:
"JK> Kindly leave this entire subject to those who do know or go find
JK> courses that will enable you to form an opinion based on facts
JK> instead of prejudice."
... Hey You! Gene Police! YES YOU!! Out of the pool NOW!!
