 My copy of Ghost (an older one) makes the new
drive the same size as the old drive (as long
as the new drive is at least as large as the
old one) when I chose to copy a drive.

 That's why I save an "image" to file, instead.
I can restore the image over the top of the
original (but contents altered) drive without
reformatting, etc. and I'm back to the point
when I made the image.
