| subject: | Heap Memory |
GC> Can't remember if I've already asked this. How do I GC> determine the amount of memory left on the heap? The GC> QSV_TOTALRESMEM number is different from the number GC> shown in Maximus/2 BBS version item. Thanks... "heap" is a bad term here. The only reason max/2 uses it is because that routine was originally written for max/dos with Turbo C, where such information actually has a meaning. When I ported it to os/2, I plugged in something for compatibility; the function will actually lie if Dos16MemAvail() returns less than a certain value, since certain parts of maximus make decisions based on the amount of "core" that is available to the C runtime library --- this is not an issue under OS/2,since the OS will always create the requested memory space for you. --- Maximus/2 2.01* Origin: Sol 3/Toronto (905)858-8488 (1:259/414) SEEN-BY: 12/2442 620/243 624/50 632/348 640/820 690/660 711/409 410 413 430 SEEN-BY: 711/807 808 809 934 942 949 712/353 515 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 259/414 400 99 250/702 3615/50 229/2 12/2442 711/409 808 809 934 |
