Hello Joe -

--8<--cut

Congratulations on your successes. I have old machines given to
me just about the time my previous ones stop working. I would
have great fun finding computers people had 'dumped' and
getting them to work again but few computer oriented businesses
around here with dumpsters. :-\

JP> Now I can transfer backups from my 386 to the DOS 486 using
JP> floppies and zipped files. At age 78,I learned something
JP> new.

I would recommend using XPORT21 and a serial cable to transfer
between the machines. Much less stress.

Use the site search at my tech website keyword "XPORT" and
click the link to download (free).

Another alternative is Interlink (you should have it already)
with a "LapLink" cable (null parallel). Shouldn't cost more
than $8 US if you don't have such a cable already.

PS: You can experiment with W31 and not disturb your DOS
software. W31 isn't all that bad once you get it setup
properly. I use both DOS v6.22 and W31 here daily.
