> RK> > Just keep in mind that for the most part, virus programmers represent > some of the very best programmers, in terms of skills. > RK> > Paranoia. Unjustified paranoia at that. That's the myth that the > virus writers would like you to believe. It gives them self-worth. You're right. I used to work writing anti-virus software (Virex) and one aspect of my job was to dissect new viruses as they came in. I can tell you unequivocally that virus writers are, in fact, the very poorest programmers. Most viruses don't even survive or propagate reliably under DOS (a much easier target!) -- the likelyhood of a successful OS/2 virus is vanishingly small. I would hope that by the time an individual learned enough technically to write such a thing, this individual would be sufficiently ethically evolved not to want to. -> Ed <- --- GEcho 1.10+* Origin: The Mail Stop -- Durham, NC (1:3641/277) SEEN-BY: 12/2442 620/243 624/50 632/348 640/820 690/660 711/409 410 413 430 SEEN-BY: 711/807 808 809 934 942 949 712/353 515 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 3641/277 1 3615/50 229/2 12/2442 711/409 808 809 934 |
