zu Netscape/2 troubles folgendes:

Logically you are very right.
Empiric you're not.
I'm stickin to OS/2 since 2.0 came out.
There are lots of really stable Progs under OS/2, like e.exe ;-)
Others, like Netscape.exe aren't.
I got now the 5th or 6th version of that Navigator, and it always suceeds
after sopmetime in dropping my system really down...
Openchat still works, so does lots of other soft, but theres a black hole
where the netscape window was, and no shutdown will function, doesnt
matter how often you click or how long you wait...
I'm really hopin' taht Opera thing will be very stable.
Cause thats the main reason why I use OS/2. I simply like stable and
reliable OS's.
> If your system is not setup correctly crashes will
DC> happen more often.
I tried lots of stuff... Really... But some crashes are not explainable
logically.
Sometimes at booting up he gives a Trap with SingleQ$, another time a
000d, another time a 000e and then boots up twenty times without any
error.
Its totall arbitrary when this happens. Fixpacks dont help me here.
> Running to Windows will not make your system more
DC> stable.
In lots of cases it wont.
The bank that employes me, uses Os/2 for the whole bookkeeping stuff.
The Whole network of over 500 independend Banks is build on it, and there
a good 2000 ppl just maintaining the soft, the servers, aso.
But our Ami Pro runs under Win/Os2 (We bought OS/2 licencees some years
ago, but after some time, the promised soft (e.g. 123 Versin 5) didn't
show up. So nowadays we all use 123, amipro, Freelance, aso under WinOS/2
sessions or clean Win 3.11 PC's.
This is running very stable.
I'm not saying that win is better, but in some parts its abilities are
enough.
> In this particular case, just turn off Java when you goto whatever
I had turned java off a long time. It didn't crash more less or more
often.
I only couldn't visit pages like www.ihatebillgates.com, which was a real
pity... and truning everything off can't be a viable solution, can't it ?
DC> page it was that crashed it as all but the most recent versions of
DC> Netscape have been having problems with Java sites (Java site programmers

Could be. I don't have knowledge of that stuff. I only know that Netscape
crashes sometimes by viewing clean Html 2 or 3.0 pages without any Java,
Javascript and other gimmicks.
This Prog seems really mean and arbitray to me...
But opera's coming... :-)
Bis denn
