David,
The '71 Olds Custom Cruiser was a decent tow vehicle for a car, but nowhere
in the class of the Suburban. Its engine allowed to pull a lot of weight,
but...
*) Wheelbase too short, trailer has too much leverage.
*) Rear suspension to soft
*) 2-wheel, rear, drive (not good when trying to haul a boat on a trailer up
a slippery ramp.
