subject: conditioned line

-> Hello Mike,
->
-> Greetings from Oklahoma where South Western Bell rules.
->
-> > I've heard that pac bell offers a conditioned line service (might
-> be
-> > called assured quality). Does anyone know how I can convince those
-> > fools at the phone company to give me a conditioned line?
->
-> During the USRobotics beta testing stage of v.fc > v.34 (not V.34+) I
-> had my line conditioned. Line Conditioning in my case rendered the
-> higher frequencies of the line useless. It turned a beta Courier
-> achieving regular 21.6k to 26.4k into a full time 14.4k modem.  I
-> used the Conditioned Line for almost a week for test purposes,
-> reported results to USR, and had the Conditioning removed.
-> Remember,... Your mileage may vary.
That seems odd, because from what I've heard they equalize all
frequencies and boost the highs. Maybe they put in a loading coil...
