  You need the latest CSDs for LAN Requester.  One of the fixes listed
  is that programs that attempted to have more than one
  DosFindFirst/Next/Close handle open at once would hang the entire
  machine.

  This was a problem in the installable file system, as far as I can
  gather.

  I can vouch for this.  I used to have dreadful trouble remembering not
  to do DIR /S on a network drive.  After installing the patch
  everything worked fine.

  The LAN Requester CSDs are on the DevCon 3 CD-ROM.  I believe that
  starting with DevCon 5 they moved to the separate LAN Systems CD-ROM.
