Tom,
TW>Being in Earthquake country i stay prepaired. Typically I can go 30 days
TW>and still get along without shopping. I also never let the gas tank in
TW>our cars get less than 1/2 full so I will not have a problem in an quick
TW>evacuation
Little Rock will likely get some damage, when the New Madrid Fault finally
goes...but I think we'll fare much better than cities like Memphis or St. Louis
will.
As for fuel, that's a bad habit I need to break...letting it run down so low.
I did that before my late wife died almost 9 years ago, and am still doing
it...yet, I know better.
Some have said that you shouldn't put new gas on top of old gas, but it's
obviously much better than running out of gas.
I've got the UPS units here, but they are for quick brownouts and short
blackouts, where I can shut things down safely. I remember before Windows 95,
that if you ran stuff like MS-DOS, Windows 3.x, or DESQview, the OS wouldn't
throw a fit if you shut it off "improperly". But, since Windows 95, that
happens every time you don't go through the proper shutoff routine.
I likely will be offline this weekend...not for earthquakes (I sure hope not,
anyway), but for a threat of thunderstorms and possible severe weather. I also
wouldn't like to be at a gas station during a thunderstorm.
Daryl
