-> DE> I think I am going to keep my son home. It seems to work better
-> DE> for him to not have to have as many changes in his day. He has
-> DE> problems dealing with transition.
->
-> I'm kinda glad. I don't like to push homeschooling on people (you ne
-> know what their circumstance may be or what they can handle) but I pr
-> it.
DE> I don't like to push things on people either, but if they ask I
DE> let them know what I think. I had a friend ask me about homeschooling
DE> the other day and I told her that she could do it if she wanted to and
DE> I let her know what I did. She just wasn't satisfied with the public
DE> school system and wanted to look at all of her options. I will
DE> probably talk more to her about it and I'm trying to think of a good
DE> book or tapes that she could use to really find out more about it, but
DE> she is not a Christian and I'm finding it hard to locate something that
DE> isn't strongly bible oriented.
The library is where I got mine from. It talked about how to do it and
gave info on all different kinds of curriculums. I don't recall the
name of the book, but it won't hurt for her just to go and look up
homeschool-
ing.
->
-> I wouldn't mind more support from a district like this, but then agai
-> hate people butting in so I may find this a little too restrictive.
DE> I find that they aren't at all restrictive. The teachers are
DE> great and make a point to let us know that they are just a resource
DE> center to assist us with our homeschooling and they don't at all want
DE> to interfere with what we are trying to accomplish with our children.
DE> I've been told that if I don't like them being involved somewhere then
DE> just tell them to but out. I can take what they suggest and use it or
DE> just ignore it if it doesn't agree with my way of thinking. So far the
DE> program has been very helpful. They have gotten my daughter involved
DE> with writing reports on the internet which is a place where I am
DE> completely in the dark. They help out with things that I don't feel
DE> real comfortable with. They really keep my daughters interest up and
DE> therefore make my job a little easier. She is now excited about
DE> learning. I still have to lead her through everything, but because she
DE> is still so young I'm willing to accept that for now. She may be quite
DE> ahead academically, but she is still very young and I always have to
DE> try and keep that in mind when I deal with her. I always have to
DE> remind myself that she is only six and still needs a lot of help from
DE> us.
Writing a report at six is very good. Jeremy is 9 and a report is 4
sentences. Of course his ADHD helps with that.
I probably still would have a problem. I like doing things on my own.
