That was then, this is now.  Carter was seen as a failed president.  A
lot of working men really LIKED Reagans message.  Does Dole even HAVE a
message?
There's no doubt about it, the OLD union bosses were out of touch with
their members.
This NEW guy, Sweeny, is a different story, I think.  Plus all of the
lay-offs and downsizing give them a fertile field to work in.  They're
gonna demonize NEWT and the Republican congress and sell their members
the idea that only a Democratic president can protect the working man
from them.

I don't think much of Dole, but I'm gonna vote for him because thats the
only way to get rid of Clinton.  The unions will reverse this - they'll
push the idea that Clinton may not be their first choice, but only a
vote for Clinton will keep the Republicans from raping the working man.
