Sort of.  But copyright violation is a civil violation not a criminal one, so 
if someone were going to take action against you, it'd be the copyright 
holder, not "the law".  (Although law enforcement will often assist a 
copyright holder by executing raids in order to seize "illegal" copies of 
things, which are thrn turned over to the copyright holder as evidence they 
can use in court to prove their case.)
