Rod, I've been looking through the logs, and it is a long time since you
had a failed connect. >11 days in fact, I stopped looking after 15/10.
Have you done anything your end? I certainly haven't. Perhaps they found
an intermittently faulty telecom line? I also noticed you logging on with
V42bis once a week or so ago. Was this because you were noticing the same
thing and were wondering if the V42bis problem had gone away?

I actually have an idea that 1) when you start collecting your mail as a
point, and 2) I get hold of Microsoft C 6.0, that I will recompile
Binkleyterm (I am now back on 2.50 which I have source to), and put in a
delay in the Zmodem transfer so that it will pause x seconds after sending
the first block if the other node is 3:711/934.2. What do you reckon? It
depends on x of course, but I would imagine 2 or 3 would suffice
(considering it has only sent one block, thus we don't have to wait for the
modem to flush its buffer). My calculations say that there should be a
saving of 18 seconds by going to V42, so the loss of 3 seconds would still
be substantial savings. BFN.

Paul
