I just plugged this into Trumpet for my ISP who uses X2 modems:
$modemsetup = "&F&C1&D2+MS=74,1,300,28800"
For the BBS, I use (... Hope I can call it up while in DOS):
ModemInit="AT&F S0=0 Q0 E1 X4^M~~~AT&C1&D2^M~"
These seem to work OK, although I haven't tweaked either of them much at all. 
I think my modem is an "IS" model. I have no ideas how this might compare to 
an "IX" one. I did flash my ROM to 33.6.
