subject: Connect Speed

SW>Usually the Zoom modem connects at speeds around 26K - 28K.
I've been getting solid 28,800 connects and sometimes get 31,200 but
never above that. I call a local bbs which uses a 33,600 USR modem.
SW>Once in awhile though, it does manage to connect at
  >33.6K if the telephone line conditions are particulary
  >good.
Have yet to experience that.
SW>When the conditions are very bad, the connection speed has
  >dropped as low as 9600 Baud.
I have get below 14,400.
SW>One nice thing I like about this model is it includes a
  >built-in surge protector for the telephone line input.
  >An earlier 14K Zoom modem I had didn't have this feature.
I hope you never have to test that!
