Hi Anthony

May I borrow that para, and quote it to the next person who asks me
why I dislike point software?
It gets better. While trying to fix a problem, I had two
Bink/Squish/Golded setups in two different partitions. I'd stripped
out a lot of disk references in the config files (eg i:\bink\
became just \bink\ ), and just *one* of these threw a wobbly: the
"squish out squash" command (idiot syntax!) would go into a near
endless loop trying to rename a file. The fix was to change the
line "Outbound \bink\outbound" to "Outbound i:\bink\outbound" in
Squish.cfg. I had to deduce this, the software offered only obscure
error msgs.
I still haven't worked out a fast way to get Bink to dial out. I
can't use alt-Y anymore (now isn't that an easy command to
remember!), as in my newest setup I'm not a point. Unless I have
written some crash replies, in which case Bink sends them
automatically, I gotta *type* "alt-M 61:6800/20.0{at}Worldnet". There
is a nodelist sysop name lookup feature, but it's so poorly
described that I can't get it to work.
Hope this cheers you up
