Hello Jonathan! 19 Dec 94 05:14, Jonathan de Boyne Pollard wrote to Stephen Lindholm: JdBP> But we should indulge in a reality check here. Appreciate your original suggestion, (I'm trying that). I wish I could replace the comm program; but it is third party and no longer supported by the company that wrote it for the hardware vendor. I absolutly need the program to run that hardware remotely. However, most of the communication tasks are to just gather information that the hardware has stored and tell the hardware to reset its buffers. I suspect that I'd be able to write a simple comm program to do that. (Simple task in Perl, etc.) But then I'd need to stuff the information into the multiple databases that the main program keeps and these are not simple ASCII. However, because of the complexity of the upload process and not having docs for the code nor the data structure; I'd be really hard pressed to replace the upload in any reasonable amount of time. I've heard rumors from the company that a (ugh) windows version will be released sometime next year. That will probably solve my problems. Just kinda hate to live with a problem that I believe that I can solve with a little kind help from individuals like you. tnx and 73's Paul --- GoldED/2 2.42.G0615* Origin: The Windy Point System - 1:303/2.6 (1:303/2.6) SEEN-BY: 12/2442 620/243 624/50 632/348 640/820 690/660 711/409 410 413 430 SEEN-BY: 711/807 808 809 934 942 949 712/353 515 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 1063/6 303/15 3615/50 229/2 12/2442 711/409 808 809 934 |
