Yoo Hoo, Kit, you were heard saying...
>KB> I have found several things in the book that were actually wrong - not
>KB> just the conclusions that he came up with. He relied heavily on the
>KB> "Dark Prince" book which has been reviewed by people in-the-know who
>KB> say it is false. One such incident is the alleged time the company took
>KB> everyone out of town to celebrate the completion of an animated
>KB> feature and they acted out - causing Walt to leave. Pure fiction
>KB> according to my sources.
>KB> I especially enjoy the movies from the DISNEY label rather than the
>KB> other studios (Touchstone, Hollywood, etc.) that Disney owns. I don't
>KB> really care for the works of the other studios (except Roger Rabbit)
>KB> and wish they would stop trying to compete in the PG-13, R and NC-17
>KB> world. Not only does it get them in trouble, but I've seen detergents
>KB> leave a better film (to quote a muppet).
I noticed that, too, the heavy reliance by the author upon a single source.
To me, without adding much, he was merely writing a book to make money
himself. He probably was sincere, but we need to be ready to discern
anything and everything for what it really is. Probably the thing I learned
most from the book was to see the 'slippery-slope' in things Disney. It's
fun, for example, to watch Fantasia, but then, also, we need to remind
ourselves that just like with drinking, it can lead down the slippery slope
to alcoholism and witchcraft. Because I'm more sensitive to things
un-Biblical, I see it more than most in things Disney. But, we are to love
the person and hate the acts, not hate the person and love their acts. Like I
said before, Disney isn't perfect and as long as we Christians realize it and
are careful, we can enjoy what is good about things Disney. There's enough
PG-13, R and NC-17 being done, so I agree Disney should focus on G and Family
entertainment! A very good example of what is good about Disney, from the
Christian perspective, was their Candlelight Processional program at EPCOT.
My wife and I really enjoyed that Christmas program!
