I am using a Netcomm M34F.  I have MNP10 disabled due to a bug in the
modem, but otherwise, I regularly connect with EC, usually V42/V42bis, but
also MNP5.  ie there is probably a problem between our two modems, but I've
long since stopped trying to get modem manufacturers to fix bugs in their
modems.  Now I just document them.  FREQ USRPROB.*, NETCOMM.*, SPIRIT.* and
VIPER.* for the ones I've personally used. BFN.  Paul.
