But see http://homepages.tesco.net/~Phil.Payne/index.html > I think Phil *does* have some extreme (to me anyway) political > opinions and is certainly not shy about sharing them . (Sorry > Phil). I find my opinions don't sit easily in any of the political pigeonholes - I tend to form my opinions issue by issue. In this particular case I've stated my objections clearly enough. Take the Columbia issue. Seven people died - they were all volunteers who knew the risks and accepted them before starting. Genuine heroes, and thus worthy of mourning, but not innocents. Truly innocent people are being killed all the time. The Israelis using a 2,000lb bomb on an appartment house to assassinate one man - and simply accepting IN ADVANCE that others would be killed, but not caring. This coming attack on Iraq will kill hundreds if not thousands. Since most Iraqi soldiers are conscripts - also civilians. And for what? Saddam is contained and is no threat to anyone. The reasons are getting more tenuous by the day - now it's "he might sell weapons to terrorists".
