Why do we all even bother to make any pretences that we are arguing with
accurate facts? I mean, the vast bulk of us are going to come down on
particular sides on particular issues and you can predict with considerable
accuracy where most are going to come down at. Any additional real info
that might change anyone's opinion is going to be filtered and mixed in
with tons if misinformation. The odds are slim that the average person (or
even above average person) will be able to sort thru and identify the real
truths in order to form a more accurate opinion.
So why bother? Just let whoever is running the media organizations and
government agencies spew out their slants and let the masses take whatever
positions they are going to take. Its not like there is much you can do
about it. You might end up feeling helpless. But by and large you are
helpless in the face of such large forces anyhow.
BTW, what do you think of the pictures on the Drudge site? You think the
released photos were taken recently? I have no idea and I figure I'm
probably never going to know the truth about that one. I'm also never going
to know what the uncle and Elian's father really said to each other on the
phone right after Elian was picked up. I'm never going to know what the
father really thinks of all this. I'm never going to know if the father
beat the mother and put her in the hospital. And so on.
