With Saddam gone, the Iranians behaving [somewhat] rationally, a big
presense in Afganistan and (soon to be Iraq), there's no compelling reason
for the US to spend the money maintaining a large presense in the kingdom.

We would undoubtedly leave behind some prepositioned materiels and
mothballed bases for them, but staffing could be 99% Saudi with only a few
US clerks to count the stuff occasionally
