On 03-05-98, MATT MUNSON declared to ROBERT PLETT:
MM>RP> Evidently the Southern Republican Conference likes Bush - he came in
MM>RP> first in their straw poll. J.C. Watts was first for VP.
MM>RP>
MM>RP> Personally, I don't think much of Bush - too much old establishment
MM>RP> there, just like with his dad.
MM>I think Quayle is the best alternative
While he disappointed me with some of his actions during the last
presidential campaign, I still thought favorably of Quayle before the
RNC debacle concerning pro-PBA Republican candidates. Unless I'm
seriously mistaken, He was right in there alongside Bush Jr., Dole,
Newt, Lott, Hyde, and the rest of the Republican leadership, too gutless
to take a moral, principled stand. As previously noted, Forbes is the
only front runner I know of who condemned that action.
AFAIC, no candidate who can't stand firmly against PBA, or abortion
generally for that matter, is deserving of any consideration whatever,
and I'll not only refuse to support them, I'll campaign against them.
On that, there will be no compromise.
