Richard,
It isn't the size of the tank, it is how often one has to refill it. One of
things that really disappointed me with my Jeep Wrangler is its fuel
mileage. While the Silverado will be even less fuel efficient, it won't be
by that much (3MPG maybe). I am getting slight less than 15MPG out of the
Wrangler with its fairly petite 4.0L inline six and probably under 3,000lb
weight. I get much better fuel efficiency out of my much heavier Grand
Cherokee with its 5.3 liter V8. Of course the Wrangler has the aerodynamics
of a brick.
I am guessing (for this type vehicle manufacturers don't have to post MPG
ratings) that it will be about 12MPG for the Silverado based on what I got
from my Suburban 2500. While the Suburban was a bit lighter and had a
smaller engine (5.8 liter), the engine/emissions control was way worse back
then.
